		<description>As you know, I lived in Beirut during the civil war.  People would kill each other, a life is cheap,  wrong time wrong place and you were dead, bad luck.  A gun in your hands and &quot;homen homini lupus est&quot;...  But when the trees started to show bullet holes, my world collapsed: have we really come this far? The birds stopped singing and disappeared and nothing could counterbalance the all invasive destruction anymore. 
Self destruction is a disease from which it takes generations to recover.  And the Lebanese have been, are and always will be a loving, hospitable people with a great sense of of humor and where you learn what respect for each other means. There we learned some lessons that still determine the quality of our lives today!
